    Ingredients

    Here's a list of ingredients you'll need

    • Yogurt (curd) - use fresh plain whole milk curd or greek yogurt. If you're using homemade curd make sure it is not sore.
    • Rose syrup - I have used Dabur rose syrup to make this recipe
    • Chilled water and rose water
    • Sugar and cardamom powder
    • Edible dried rose petals
    • Optional - Ice cubes and chopped nuts

For the details of the exact quantities of each ingredient, check the recipe card below

    Storage

    • Keep any leftover lassi in the fridge for one to two days. Ice cubes are not necessary if you plan to store them.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I add flavours to the lassi?

Absolutely, in fact, there are so many variations of lassi. Add some ripe mangoes to make Mango lassi and cumin powder, chaat masala to make savoury lassi called Masala Lassi

Why is lassi not thick or creamy?

Don't use low-fat yogurt and milk to make lassi. Always use full-fat or Greek yogurt to make thick and creamy lassi.

    Top tip

    • Always use full-fat or Greek yogurt to make the lassi creamy and thick.
    • Use chilled water and milk to make it.
    • For a froth on the top of the lassi, blend all the ingredients with a hand blender and pour immediately into a serving glass.
    • Use the chilled water to make the lassi, if the water is not chilled, place the prepared buttermilk in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve.
    • Add a little more water or milk to get a slightly thin consistent lassi if you think lassi is too thick and creamy for your taste.
    • Keep lassi in the fridge if you wish to serve later.
