Happy New Year to all my readers! Hope everyone had a wonderful start. To celebrate this new year, with a sweet I prepared Sheera.

In this Sheera preparation, I used semolina/rava/sooji along with milk and ghee (clarified butter). It is a special sweet dish made for many occasions in India and is a delicious pudding to serve after any meal.

This is a quick and easy sweet recipe you can prepare within 20 minutes if you are craving for any sweet or if you have sudden guests.

    Sheera

    Ingredients:

    • Semolina/Rava/sooji -½ cup
    • Ghee-3tbsp
    • Milk-1cup
    • Water-¾cup
    • Sugar-¾ cup
    • Cardamom power-1tsp
    • Chopped nuts -¼cup (almonds, pistachio, cashew nuts)

    Preparation:

In a saucepan, boil water and milk together for a couple of minutes. Turn off the flame and keep the pan aside.
Now take a non-stick pan, add 2tbsp of ghee and fry nuts. Take the fried nuts into a bowl and keep aside.
In the same pan add rava and roast on low flame for 5-7 minutes or until nice aroma comes/rava changes into light golden colour.

Then add the boiled water-milk liquid to the semolina and stir well without any lumps. Cover and cook for 5mintues on low flame till the liquid is absorbed by the rava.
After that add sugar and stir well. Cover again and cook till the sugar melts and mixture becomes thick or the mixture stops sticking to the walls of the pan.
Add the fried nuts along with cardamom powder and mix well.
Next, add the remaining ghee, mix well and turn off the flame.
Transfer the Sheera into a serving bowl and garnish with the remaining chopped nuts and enjoy it warm.

    Note:

Here you can use milk only instead of water. Sweetness is perfect for me if you like you can add a little bit more.

You can serve it as cold or warm. But I prefer warm.

Sheera is one of the sweets that we can prepare instantly, looks delicious. I guess, I add a little less sugar.
