Mushroom masala Recipe
Mushroom masala curry is very easy to prepare. To make this recipe you just need a handful of ingredients like onion, tomato puree and a few spices, herbs.
This Mushroom curry is liked by everyone in my home and it pairs well as a side dish with this Coconut rice, Ghee rice, Jeera rice and plain basmati rice

Ingredients you'll need
Here's a list of ingredients you'll need to make this curry.
Mushroom - used white button mushrooms, but you can also use Chestnut Mushrooms
Onion - White onion is used
Tomato paste or tomato puree can be used
Ginger garlic paste - homemade paste is used
Green chillies
Red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder,garam masala and cumin seeds are used
Dried fenugreek leaves

How to make mushroom masala curry
Wash and dry the mushrooms and cut them into slices or halves or into small pieces.
Heat a pan with oil, add sliced mushrooms and saute on medium flame until they turn into light brown colour. Transfer them into a bowl and keep them aside.
In the same pan, heat the remaining oil and add cumin seeds, allow it to crackle and then add sliced onion, green chillies and saute it.
Now add ginger garlic paste and fry until the raw smell goes out.
Then the tomato puree and spices and mix well. Next, add little water to prevent the masala to burn and cook on low flame for 5-7 minutes.
Now add the sauteed mushrooms and mix well. Add ¼-1/2 cup of water, salt to taste and cook for 5 minutes on medium flame.
once the gravy reaches the desired consistency, add dried fenugreek leaves and mix well.
Finally, add chopped coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
Substitutions
- Mushroom - instead of white button, you can use Chestnut Mushrooms
- Dried fenugreek leaves- this is optional
Notes
- Adjust the spices according to your taste.
- You can add your favourite veggies along with mushrooms in ths curry
- Adjust the water according to the gravy consistency you want
Storage
Once the curry cools down transfer it into an airtight container and store it in the fridge, and it will be good for 2-3 days.

Ingredients
- 250-300 g mushrooms sliced
- 1 big white onion diced
- 2 Green chillies
- 1 tablespoon Ginger garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- 2 tablespoon Tomato purée
- 1+ ½ teaspoon Red chilli powder
- 1+½ teaspoon Coriander powder
- ½ teaspoon Cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon Garam masala
- 2 teaspoon Kasuri methi/dried fenugreek leaves
- Coriander leaves a handful
- 4 tablespoon Oil
- Salt to taste
