    Prawn Dum Biryani

    First time i made this prawn Biryani,which i have adapted from Kitchen Secrets.My little one enjoyed it very much.Even hubby dear told it came out perfectly and we had it with onion raitha.Here goes the recipe..

    Ingredients:

    For Marination:
    Prawn-400grams
    Ginger garlic paste-1tsp

    Red chilli powder-½tsp

    Lemon juice-11/2tsp

    For Masala :
    Onion- 2 nos.
    Tomato- 2 nos.
    Green chillies- 1nos.
    Ginger garlic paste-1 teaspoon
    Orange color-½ tsp
    Cinnamon -1 inch piece
    Cardamom - 2 nos.
    Cloves - 2 nos.
    Bay leaves - 1 no.
    Turmeric powder-½tsp
    Salt to taste
    Ghee-1tbsp
    Oil-2 tbsp

    For Cooking Rice:

    Basmati rice -2cup
    Cloves -2nos.

    Cardamom - 2 nos.
    Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
    Cinnamon - 1 in piece
    Bay leaves - 1 no.
    Oil - 1 tsp
    Salt to taste

    Preparation:

    For Marination :

    Take a bowl,add the ingredients under marination and mix well.Marinate it for half an hour.

    For Masala :

    Take a pan,add both ghee and oil together. Add the cinnamon,cloves,cardamom fry for few minutes. Then goes the chopped onions and fry till they change there colour.

    Then add ginger garlic paste and saute well.Add the tomatoes and cook until the tomatoes are totally cooked.Then add the turmeric powder and the marinated prawn mixture into this and saute well.Add chopped cilantro leaves and mix well. Cook this mixture until prawn is cooked well.

    For Rice :

    Wash and Soak the rice for 10 minutes. Then take a bottomed big vessel and fill it with ¾ of water and boil the water.Add oil and all the garam masalas.Add the rice slowly and cook for exactly 5 minutes i.e is ¾th cooked.Drain the water.

    Take the nonstick pot and add half the prawn masala and then add the half of hot steaming rice straight after draining . Top the rice with another layer of the remaining prawn mixture and then followed by remaining hot rice.Drizzle the food colour on the top of the rice. Cover the vessel with a thick cotton cloth and seal it. Close the lid very tightly . Heat a dosa pan and place the pot on top and cook for 15 minutes. Make sure no steam escapes while cooking.. Remove the lid and by using the fork mix the rice gently without breaking it and have it.

    Serve delicious n mouthwatering prawn Biryani with onion raitha.
