    Coconut Milk Pulao | Coconut Rice Pulao

    Coconut Milk Pulao is simple and mild rice with full of flavours that goes perfect with any veg/non-veg gravy. This Pulao is prepared with coconut milk and spices. You can prepare this pulao within 30 minutes and is perfect for a lunch box and for small get-togethers.

    For the third day of Blogging Marathon, in A-z Series I prepared this easy and flavourful Coconut Milk Pulao.

    Coconut Milk Pulao

     

    STEP BY STEP PICTURES OF MAKING COCONUT MILK PULAO

     

    Ingredients:

    • Basmati rice- 1 cup
    • Coconut Milk -1 ½ cup
    • Ginger garlic paste- 2tsp
    • Shah Jeera – 1tsp
    • Sliced onions- 2
    • Slit green chillies- 4
    • Bay leaves- 2
    • Cloves- 4
    • Cinnamon stick- ½ inch
    • Cardamom pods- 2
    • Roasted cashew nuts for garnishing
    • Ghee- 4tbsp
    • Oil- 1tsp
    • Salt to taste

    Preparation:

    Wash and soak the basmati rice for 15 minutes.

    Meanwhile slice the onions, green chillies and keep aside.

    Heat a non-stick pan, add ghee, oil once they heat, add shah jeera along with cloves, cinnamon stick, bay leaves and cardamom pods.

    Next add the sliced onions, green chillies and sauté them till onions change its colour.

    Add ginger garlic paste and fry till raw smell goes.

    Drain the water from the rice and add to the saucepan and mix gently without breaking the rice and fry for a minute.

    Add 1 ½ cup coconut milk along with the ½ cup of hot water and check the seasonings.

    Cover with lid and cook on low flame for 15 minutes or till the rice is cooked.

    Then gently fluff up the rice with a fork and transfer into a serving plate and garnish with fried cashew nuts.

    Enjoy this delicious coconut milk pulao with your favourite gravy.


     

    Note:

    You can prepare this pulao with normal rice also instead of basmati rice.

    If you want you can add veggies to this pulao.
