Green Peas Pulao is a simple and aromatic dish which can be prepared within 30 minutes. The process of making this pulao is very easy. Adding mint, coriander leaves to the rice gives a wonderful flavour. I prepared this peas pulao for the first time and it turned out very well. Here we served this pulao with onion raita, but you can also have this with any veg or non-veg curry.

For the Fourth day of Blogging Marathon, in A-Z Series I cooked this Green Peas Pulao.

    Green Peas Pulao

STEP BY STEP PICTURES OF PREPARING GREEN PEAS PULAO

    Ingredients:

    • Basmati rice – 1cup
    • Green peas – 1cup (here I used frozen peas)
    • Finely chopped onions-2
    • Green chillies -4
    • Ginger garlic paste – 1tsp
    • Cloves-2
    • Bay leaves-2
    • Cinnamon stick a small piece
    • Cardamom pods- 2
    • Shah jeera- 1tsp
    • Mint leaves a handful
    • Coriander leaves handful
    • Oil- 2tbsp
    • Ghee- 2tbsp
    • Salt to taste

    Preparation:

Wash and soak the basmati rice in water for 15 minutes.

Heat a non-stick pan, add ghee, oil once they heat, add shah jeera along with cloves, cinnamon stick, bay leaves and cardamom pods.

Next add the finely chopped onions, green chillies and sauté them for a minute or until onions turn into translucent.

Add ginger garlic paste and fry till raw smell goes.

Next add green peas, coriander leaves and mint leaves. Mix well

Drain the water from the rice and add to the saucepan and mix gently without breaking the rice and fry for a minute or until water evaporates from rice.

Then add 1 ½ cup of hot water and check the seasonings.

Cover with lid and cook on low flame for 15 minutes or till the rice is cooked.

Then gently fluff up the rice with a fork and transfer into a serving plate.

Enjoy this delicious Green peas pulao with raita.

    Note:

    • You can prepare this pulao with normal rice also instead of basmati rice.
    • Increase or decrease the green chillies according to your taste.
    • This rice can be prepared in pressure cooker also.

Pulao feels incomplete without green peas. This looks so good and love the mild spices and herbs used.

Peas pulao seems so good. A great option to have it on it's own with some raita and ideal for kids lunchbox...
