Cinnamon stick – ½ inch
Cardamom pods -2
Ginger garlic paste-1tsp
Shah jeera -1tsp
Cashew nuts -4tbsp
optional
Bay leaves-2
Cloves-4
Coriander leaves a hand full
Mint leaves a hand full
Ghee-4tbsp
Salt to taste
Hot water-11/2 cup
Instructions
wash and soak the rice in water for at least 15 minutes. Here I soaked the rice for 30 minutes.
Heat a deep pan with ghee. Then add all spices and fry for a minute.
Next, add the chopped onions along with slit green chillies and sauté them till onion changes its colour.
After that add ginger garlic paste and fry a minute or until raw smell goes out.
Then add cashew nuts along with mint and coriander leaves and sauté them for a minute.
Drain the water from rice and slowly add the pan and mix gently, so that you don’t break the grains.
Add 11/2 cup of water and season it with required salt and mix well.
Close the lid and cook on low flame for 15-20 minutes or until rice is cooked.
Once it is cooked leave it aside for 10-15 minutes without opening the lid. Then gently puff the rice with a spoon or fork.
Transfer the flavoured bagara rice into a serving plate and enjoy with favourite curry.
Here my family and I enjoyed this delicious and flavourful rice with chicken curry and egg fry.
Notes
You can use oil instead of ghee or both oil and ghee together also.
Adjust the green chillies according to your taste.
