Hmarcha Rawt | Roasted Green chilli Chutney from Mizoram

Hmarcha Rawt is a spicy chutney from Mizoram, made with roasted green chillies, grated ginger and onion. With only 4 ingredients you can make this lip-smacking chutney.

Ingredients

  • Green chillies – 10
  • Grated ginger – 2tsp
  • Finely chopped onion – 1
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Make a slit into the green chillies.
  • Heat a pan and roast the green chillies until they change their colour into little black.
  • Transfer them into a plate to cool.
  • In a blender add the roasted green chillies, salt and grind into a coarse paste.
  • Mix this paste with finely chopped onions and grated ginger.
  • Then transfer it into a bowl and enjoy tangy and spicy Hmarcha Rawt.

Notes

  • This is a spicy chutney, so you can 1tsp of sugar if needed.
  • You can make this chutney even with red chillies, but before grinding them soak in water for 5-10 minutes.
