Masala rice recipe is a simple and delicious recipe that you can make within 30 minutes. This rice is perfect to serve with the chicken curry or with a simple raita. This rice is something in between biryani and pulao.
Main Course, Rice
Basmati rice - 1 cup
Chopped tomatoes -2
Chapped onions -2
Green chillies -4
Cinnamon stick – ½ inch
Cardamom pods -2
Ginger garlic paste-1teaspoon
Coriander leaves a hand full
Mint leaves a hand full
Salt to taste
Hot water-11/2 cup
wash and soak the rice in water for at least 10minutes.Here I soaked the rice for 20 minutes.
Heat a deep pan with ghee and oil. Then add all spices and fry for a minute.
Next, add the chopped onions along with slit green chillies and sauté them till onion changes its colour.
After that add ginger garlic paste and fry a minute or until raw smell goes out.
Then add chopped tomatoes along with turmeric powder, coriander leaves, mint leaves and sauté them for a minute.
Cover and cook till the tomatoes are nicely mashed (don’t forget to stir in between otherwise masala will stick to the bottom of the pan)
Drain the water from rice and slowly add the pan and mix gently, so that you don’t break the grains.
Add 11/2 cup of water and season it with required salt and mix well.
Close the lid and cook on low flame for 15-20 minutes or until rice is cooked.
Transfer the flavoured masala rice into a serving plate and enjoy with favourite curry or with raita.
