This Gujarati state gathiya is very easy to prepare.These are the crunchy and deep-fried snack.

Servings: 250 grams
  • 2 cups Gramflour/besan
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon Ajwain
  • ½ cup Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as required for kneading the dough
  • Oil for deep frying
  1. Take a bowl and sieve the flour.

  2. Roast the baking powder until it turns into brown colour.
  3. Add the baking powder, salt, ajwain and oil to the flour.Mix well.
  4. Slowly add the water to the flour and make a smooth dough.

  5. Grease the murukku press with oil and fill it with dough.

  6. Heat a pan with oil for deep frying.

  7. Slowly press the gathiya and spread in the oil in a round shape.

  8. After a minute flip and fry the other side.

  9. Finally, drain over the kichtchen paper to absorb excess oil and break them into small pieces. Repeat the same process with the remaining dough.
